What is a Calcutta?
A Calcutta is a betting pool where each of the 48 World Cup teams is bid on by syndicates. Total bids form the prize pot. Cheap teams that overperform pay outsized returns.
How payouts work
60% of the pool pays out during the group stage based on standings. The remaining 40% goes to knockout-round advancement — split equally among each round's winners.
The tournament
48 teams across 12 groups. Hosted across the USA, Canada, and Mexico. Opening match June 11 at Estadio Azteca. Final July 19, 2026 at MetLife Stadium.
